Knee Tumescent Liposuction
Sculpt your way to shapely legs
Patients can use tumescent tumescent liposuction to get rid of knee fat and get back into their shorts and short skirts. With knee liposuction, patients can wear the clothes they thought they'd never want to wear again, finally ridding themselves of that stubborn fat around the knees, sculpting their legs, and improving body proportions.
Having a tumescent liposuction surgeon eliminate knee fat with liposculpture is much easier and safer than undergoing traditional liposuction. The process is simple:
- You are given a local anesthetic to numb the area.
- Your surgeon then places small incisions to begin the suctioning process with a cannula.
- Your tumescent liposuction surgeon uses slow, gentle movements to remove the fat, meaning limited pain, fewer bruises, and a rapid recovery for you. The entire tumescent liposculpture procedure usually lasts only one to two hours and acts to reduce fat permanently. Tumescent Liposuction patients need only local sedation, and most patients are back at work in one or two days.
- Tumescent Liposuction is permanent. Once fat cells are removed from the body, they do not grow back.
- Tumescent Liposuction produces noticeable results, leaving you with sculpted, contoured, and slimmer legs.
Why choose knee tumescent liposuction? Is it for men or women?
Both men and women can benefit from knee liposuction. Tumescent Liposuction of the knee reduces excess adipose tissue above and around the knee, naturally tapering the leg and restoring proportion to the body. After knee liposuction, the leg is defined by the knee joint, not by the knee fat above it. With knee tumescent liposuction, recovery is quick and post-op bruising and pain is minimal. Results are permanent, so patients never have to worry about excess knee flab again.
What is knee tumescent liposuction like?
Liposculpting is performed in a relaxing and luxurious spa-type setting with all the safety, sterility and standards of an operating room, under local anesthesia. Patients remain awake and alert during the entire procedure. First, the surgeon numbs the skin and places small incisions in the area. Using gentle suction, excess fat is removed with a small cannula. The procedure lasts for about one to two hours, and patients walk out of the office with their new, sculpted legs.
Am I a good candidate for knee tumescent liposuction?
Tumescent Liposuction of the knees is a safe procedure for most men and women who have a high accumulation of adipose tissue around the knee area. If you can pinch more than a quarter inch of fat around or above your knee joint, then knee tumescent liposuction should improve your leg contours by eliminating that extra fat. Anyone who has had a gastric bypass or has lost over 100 pounds might need to take extra precautions and might want to consider further skin-tightening procedures for loose skin. A consultation with the tumescent liposuction doctor can help address these issues.
Can knee tumescent liposuction be combined with other procedures?
Yes, absolutely. Many patients choose to have their knee liposculpture procedure performed in conjunction with other procedures, especially hip and thigh tumescent liposuction. When knee, hip, and thigh liposuction procedures are combined, the laser surgeon can sculpt and slim your entire leg, from front to back. Of course, not all patients need tumescent liposuction on their hips, thighs, or other areas, so your surgeon can target the knees alone and perform this procedure by itself if you prefer.
Will I have any scars or sagging skin after knee tumescent liposuction?
Tumescent liposuction of the knees leaves only a couple of small incision sites, each only about 3mm wide, or less. The incision sites are closed with a small suture and heal within a day or two, fading into the natural color of the surrounding skin. Scarring does not usually occur.
Anyone under the age of 60 with good skin tone will generally not have sagging skin and will instead see an improvement in skin tone and firmness. All Renew patients receive a complimentary SkinTyte skin tightening treatment after the fat is removed, and time has allowed for healing and any additional swelling to subside.
What are the post-op procedures for knee tumescent liposuction?
Patients generally experience only mild discomfort after the procedure. You can walk immediately afterward, enjoy light to medium activities, and return to work in a day or two. Some, but not all, patients experience mild bruising. A compression garment similar to bike shorts is worn to promote healing, reduce swelling and provide the best overall results.
Some patients might experience swelling after the procedure. Good results are visible within three to four weeks; final results are seen within six months. While it does take a while for the swelling to subside, there is minimal to no pain involved. The most common discomfort patients experience is mild soreness, similar to the muscle ache that accompanies strenuous exercise.
